Healthy Futures offers a spectrum of services that inform Dr. Underwood’s work, help individuals, and are adapted to the needs of employees and at client organizations. Healthy Futures offers three programs for organizations: the HealthLaunch program for individuals getting started and our Longevity in Action program for people at an intermediate level. We also offer a Disease Alleviation program for those who need help with chronic illnesses. Healthy Futures employs various services, including assessments and tests, to measure health and lifestyle precursors.
The lifestyle assessment is an in-depth focus on discussing health's emotional, mental, physical, and social components. All these components are relevant to an individual’s ability to sustain illness and injury and maintain a healthy quality of life.
As its name implies, the nutritional assessment is a complete appraisal of an individual’s food and nutrient intake — considering both objective and subjective information — concerning health, lifestyle, and medical history.
This comprehensive and in-depth session includes assessment questionnaires and personal fitness, lifestyle, and nutritional components to determine complete health and well-being.
The omega 3 test details the relative amounts of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the blood. Several studies have shown that having a high omega-3 blood score reduces the risk for heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as numerous other chronic diseases. Omega 3 fatty acids also fight inflammation caused by omega 6 fatty acids. Having a good balance between the two stabilizes inflammatory response.
DNA Analysis is a comprehensive laboratory test of specific gene variants in genetic material (known as single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs). This is done with a profile that obtains information about the individual’s lifestyle habits related to the analyzed gene variants. These two pieces of information are then analyzed to provide a personalized health action plan that outlines specific diet, nutrition, and exercise recommendations.
An important diagnostic tool, the Cytotoxic Food Sensitivity Test, can help identify the culprits in the diet. If someone has headaches, fatigue, and/or joint and muscle pain, the person could be allergic or sensitive to food. Other complaints range from irritable bowel syndrome to bloating and diarrhea. This test is done by analysis of the reaction of foods to white blood cells.
Vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant deficiencies have been shown to suppress immune system function, which can contribute to degenerative processes such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. People are sometimes deficient in certain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or other essential micronutrients without knowing it. Nutrient status is key due to biochemical individuality, absorption problems, chronic illness, aging, and lifestyle. This test considers all these factors and others to identify nutrient status. Then, we can correct specific deficiencies that could negatively influence health.
